Requirements, Roles & Responsibilities
A director must be qualified under the Societies Act and the bylaws of the society. They must:

Be an individual – not an organization or a corporation
-
Be at least 18 years old – younger directors may be permitted under certain conditions
-
Be capable of managing their own affairs
-
Not be undergoing bankruptcy
-
Have not been convicted of fraud or corporate offence within the last five years
-
Meet any qualifications noted in the society’s bylaws
-
Board of Directors are to meet monthly with the Executive Director and Program Director.

Keep up to date with important dates, programs, services and events happening at Sacred Wolf.

Hold board members accountable

Lead board meetings

Set objectives for the board

Serve as the board’s primary contact

Not be undergoing bankruptcy

Vice President:

Act as board chair when needed

Support the board chair in performing key duties

Perform special tasks as assigned by the chair

Orient new board members
Treasurer
Board treasurers require sufficient training and experience in finance and accounting, as they make critical decisions regarding investing and spending.

Reconciliation of bank and board’s financial statements

Filing taxes and adhering to any tax-related issues

Serve as the financial officer of the nonprofit

Work with the chief financial officer in preparing annual budget estimates

Conduct and review yearly financial audits
-
Report to the board about the financial health of the organization
